Seattle rapper Macklemore has long been known for his outspoken voice in music and politics, but in June 2025 his family home became the scene of a terrifying crime. Two masked intruders forced their way into his Seattle residence late at night while his three children and their nanny were inside. The assailants attacked the nanny with bear spray before ransacking the home for valuables. The children were safely evacuated, but the incident sent shockwaves through the community.
Break in the Case
After months of investigation, authorities believe they’ve identified one of the men responsible: 29-year-old Patrick Maisonet of Renton. Maisonet, who also owns a pawn shop, was first arrested in connection with a separate jewelry store robbery in late 2024. But during a raid on his shop this summer, detectives discovered items believed to have been stolen from Macklemore’s home, including a custom Sounders MLS Cup ring and a Seahawks Super Bowl ring.
Although he has not yet been formally charged for Macklemore’s burglary, prosecutors have filed 10 felony counts against Maisonet tied to a wider pattern of celebrity home invasions.
A String of High-Profile Targets
Court filings accuse Maisonet of targeting some of Seattle’s biggest names in sports and entertainment. Among the alleged victims are:
- Ichiro Suzuki, Mariners legend
- Luis Castillo, Mariners pitcher
- Richard Sherman, former Seahawks cornerback
- Blake Snell, MLB pitcher
Prosecutors say Maisonet burglarized or attempted to rob their homes, often while the athletes or their families were nearby. In some cases, the crimes occurred while he was supposed to be on home detention, after cutting off his ankle monitor.
Courtroom Drama
Maisonet has entered a not guilty plea in the jewelry theft case but has not yet been arraigned on the celebrity burglary charges. His behavior in court has drawn attention: during a recent hearing, he cursed and flipped off cameras as he was led away.
Across the various cases, judges have set his combined bail at more than $2.2 million. He is scheduled to return to court on September 9, 2025, when prosecutors are expected to press forward with additional charges.
Larger Implications
The Macklemore break-in underscored just how vulnerable even high-profile families can be inside their own homes. The crime was especially disturbing because children were present, and the nanny later suggested the attack may have been politically motivated given Macklemore’s outspoken advocacy.
For now, Maisonet remains in custody as investigators continue piecing together what appears to be one of the most brazen celebrity burglary sprees Seattle has ever seen.
