26-Year-Old Man Shot in the Neck While Driving in Capitol Hill, Seattle — Dies at Hospital

Seattle, September 17-18, 2025 — A shooting in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood Wednesday night has resulted in the death of a 26-year-old man who was shot in the neck while driving, according to statements from the Seattle Police Department. The incident marks the 27th homicide in Seattle this year and the first since August 11.

According to authorities, the shooting took place around 9:30 p.m. near 10th Avenue and East Pike Street. The victim, who was driving north on 10th Avenue, was stopped with his foot on the brake when gunfire rang out. His vehicle rolled approximately 60 feet before coming to a stop.

Response, Investigation, and Unanswered Questions

Emergency responders and bystanders offered aid at the scene until Seattle Fire Department medics arrived. The man was transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition, but succumbed to his injuries shortly afterward.

Investigators say there are no known arrests yet, and the motive for the shooting remains under review. Witness reports indicate multiple assailants may have fled the scene in a gold Chevrolet Tahoe. Three shell casings were recovered at the site.
